Bride + Groom interview:
How did you two meet? We both attended UW-Stevens Point and we were next door neighbors our Junior year. Ryan and his roommates were having a March Madness party outside and I wandered over by them. He was the last guy I talked to there and we hit it off right away. The next day was spring break and we texted during the whole week. Our first date happened the next Saturday; he cooked me fish he had caught during Spring Break, I brought the beer, and we watched March Madness, and the rest is history!
Proposal story: Christmas is Rachel’s favorite holiday. We had already exchanged our gifts a few days prior, but Christmas morning Ryan got up early and yelled, “Rachel get up! Santa came!” I got up and saw my stocking was full so I dumped it out. It was full of our favorite Christmas candies and as I was sorting through the Recess Peanut Butter Santas on the floor, Buck came over and crawled under the coffee table and started sniffing something. I looked over and saw a maroon square box. I opened it and saw the most beautiful, sparkly, amazing diamond ring. Ryan was standing with his hands in his pockets and said, “Will you marry me?”
Best memory of our wedding: Ryan: The wedding ceremony; the way the weather was so perfect right before the ceremony started, the first sight of Rachel walking down the aisle, the way she looked so beautiful; seeing the big smiles on everyone’s faces, the messages from Pastor Mary; finally becoming husband and wife. Rachel: The first dance; Ryan was choosing our first dance song and wanted it to be a surprise. I knew it was between 5 different songs so I was excited to hear what it would be. I was nervous about dancing in front of everyone, but the instant I heard the first few notes of the song I knew what it was and started to cry in Ryan’s arms. It was just so perfect and summed up everything I was feeling about that day and the rest of our life together.
Special thanks to some special folks: Pastor Mary – She did such an amazing job with the ceremony personalizing it for us and delivering God’s word. Shelly Stone – She helped throughout the entire planning process and did an amazing job organizing everything that day from the set up to the cleanup. Our wedding party made up of our closest friends and family. They are always there to help us, support us, and share in our memories. Our parents, Tom and Carie Vos, and Don Giefer and Julie Motiff. They have always been there giving us unconditional love and support, advice and wisdom, and patience and understanding. They have made us who we are today and have helped guide us through our relationship. Our guests: the day was so incredibly perfect, so much fun, and it wouldn’t have been without everyone that was there. There was so much love and laughter and we are so blessed to have so much support from friends and family.
What are we looking forward to most about married life? Being able to call each other Husband and Wife, Rachel officially becoming a Giefer; all the memories and adventures yet to come!
Rachel’s mom made this gorgeous bouquet – how thoughtful and sweet of her!
Rachel and Ryan didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony but they wanted to exchange letters and read them together. HOW SWEET!!!
One of their bridal party photo requests was to play football :) Talk about a fun bridal party!
Each of the girls held chalk boards with how they met Rachel! So creative!
