Bride and Groom Interview:
1) How did you two meet?
Dave and Leah met on E-harmony only a few weeks after Leah moved to Dallas. During a conversation about cooking and favorite foods, Leah realized Dave might be a keeper when she learned split pea soup was also one of his favorite meals. They talked for a few weeks before Dave finally asked her out. When their original plan to meet at the local Packer bar to watch a game fell through, they decided to meet up for Mexican. They spent the evening talking and laughing, and the rest is history!
2) Proposal story:
The week leading up to our engagement Dave managed to convince me that they only thing in store for us for the weekend a quiet weekend at home and a trip to the sports bar to watch LSU (his favorite college team) take on Alabama. On Saturday I spent all morning at a school function and was completely surprised when I came home to find a bouquet of red roses and Dave with a goofy grin on his face. I walked into the bedroom and discovered a teddy bear dressed in a tux with a ring box at his feet! (Dave had braved the world of Build-A-Bear on his own to pick out and dress a teddy bear fit for the special occasion… which I think is not only humorous to imagine him there, but also speaks to one of the many details he wanted to make sure would make the proposal perfect).
I checked the ring box, and found it was empty. It took me a few seconds, but I quickly realized Dave had the real ring box in his hand. After a few more seconds of anticipation, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes without hesitation.
Unbeknownst to me, Dave had also made celebration plans for that evening. He arranged a car service to take us to a five-star restaurant in Uptown Dallas. We started the evening with cocktails at the Ritz Carlton and then walked over to the restaurant. When we arrived, we found our table adorned with rose petals and two glasses of Champaign. We enjoyed a delicious three-course meal and wonderful evening to mark the start of the next step in our life together. It was a day and feeling we won’t soon forget!
3) Best memory of your wedding:
There are so many great memories from the wedding, it’s hard to pick a favorite. Favorite part of the ceremony was hearing the 4 things/reasons why we fell in love with each other. Favorite part of the reception was after dinner when the sun was setting with the longhorns in the background and people were gathered outside the barn talking. Such a gorgeous back-drop! Also won’t soon forget all of Dave’s dance moves!
4) Anything you would like to say to your wedding guests or anyone that helped out with the wedding? A special thanks or shout out?
A huge thank you to all of our parents (Pat & Penny; Claire & Ron, and David & Barbara) for all their love, support, and for setting such great examples of love and happy marriages.
Thank you to our bridal party (Lindsey, Elle, Karsyn, Kyle, Rick, & David). They helped with set-up, clean-up, and truly helped translate our vision into reality.
And to all the guests who were there- it meant the world to us to have so many friends and family from near and far gather to help us celebrate.
5) What you’re looking forward to most about married life?
Everything! We are looking forward to all the little day-to-day things as well as the big milestones/memories such as our honeymoon, travel, children, and continuing to grow together.
A sweet gift from her groom. A necklace made from her grandma’s diamonds.
Umm, model status. Leah, you are gorgeous.
These photos almost had me in tears! Such a special bond between Leah and her father.
During the reception we were able to sneak way to take more photos – some of my favorites!
