Engaged: 3/13/2013
Wedding: 4/26/14 in Richmond, VA
Cara, describe yourself: I grew up in Johnstown, PA and made it to Nashville by way of med school in FL. When I’m not working as a OB/GYN resident, I love running , going to the park and having other outdoor adventures. I’m a middle child with an older brother and younger sister, which makes me competitive and attention seeking! (In a good way)
Matt, describe yourself: I grew up in Boonsburo, MD, only a short distance from Cara. I actually was in residency in Pittsburgh, PA then moved to Nashville. I would describe myself as a quiet observer until you get to know me. I love being outside. In particular, I like hiking, mountain biking and skiing.
How did you two meet? We met through mutual friends that we work with. Neil (Matt’s friend) and Reesha (Cara’s friend) who are now married basically set us up without knowing by us being the only two single people they invited to their home to hang out one evening.
Cara, what about Matt attracts you most? I’ve always told Matt that I like his hands. Hands always tell a lot about a person. But I also love his thick dark hair (with a little salt and pepper grey spots :) ) and his shoulders, which are nice, broad and strong looking.
Matt, what about Cara attracts you most? Physically, I love her long, amber-colored hair and green-grey eyes. Although, her hair was pretty short when we started dating. She has a great smile, is loving, genuine, always sees the positive in any situation, no matter how bad her day is going.
So far what is your favorite memory together? We both remember the weekend before I (Cara) left for Africa right after we first started dating. We spend an afternoon at Arrington Vineyards and then actually went to Flying Saucer downtown for an evening of brats and beer.
Any other comments, memories, or love you would like to share? I think Matt and I have taken a lot of our lives to figure out who we are as individuals and how to love ourselves as we are. Now we look forward to dedicate our lives to loving each other and building a life and family together. Both of us come from loving families and our parents have been together for years and years, so we have a lot of love to live up to! But seeing our parents love for each other is so inspiring and I (we) can’t wait to have that years from now.
