Meet Katie: I grew up in a small town, Madeira, OH. I have an amazing Mother and Father and two older brothers and a brand new nephew, Tripp! I went to the University of Toledo for my undergraduate degree in exercise science. Upon graduating from there, I moved to Nashville, TN to attend Belmont University for graduate school. I am going to school to receive my doctorate in occupational therapy and I graduate in May. After I graduate I am hoping to be an occupational therapist for the pediatric population or acute care setting. I like to spend time with my friends, family, our dog (Macy), and try to be as active as possible. I enjoy being outdoors especially boating and love being on the beach. I am also very passionate and enjoy my profession.
Meet Sean: I grew up on the outskirts of Toledo, OH. My father was a factory worker at General Motors and my mother was mostly a stay at home mom. I am the oldest of three. I have a younger sister and brother, and my brother died at 8 months due to heart complications. I joined the Coast Guard Reserve in 2005 and was deployed for 8 months in 2008. I am an EMT-IV in the state of TN and have an associate’s degree in Applied Science and multiple certifications in Fire Science. I just started working for the city of Fairview 2 weeks ago as a Firefighter and love it. I love college football, motorsports, cooking, and pretty much anything that has to do with the outdoors.
How did you two meet? (from Katie…) Since Sean is from Toledo, OH, we met while I was attending college at the University of Toledo. On my first day of college, I met Seans cousin who just happened to be dorm roommates with my best friend from high school. When his cousin got to know me (maybe about two weeks into school). she told me that I just HAD to meet her cousin (Sean) because she knew we would hit it off. A couple weeks later she staged a run in with his cousin and his friends at a part for the Ohio State/Michigan football game. We immediately hit it off but there was one problem…he had a girlfriend and by this time I had a boyfriend. We tried to go on with our lives and try not to talk to each other, but one year later (when we were both single) he decided to call me and ask me out on a date to see the movie Beer Fest and dinner at Applebe’s (how romantic
, haha) I guess you could say it was meant to be
When did you start dating? (from Katie..) October 24, 2006 – It will be almost exactly 7 years from our wedding date that we will have been together. I remember this date perfectly because Sean made me a mixed CD of all the songs that reminded him of me/us and put it on the windshield of my car. On the CD he wrote “Will you be my girlfriend?” I proceeded to drive all the way to class without even noticing it. He had to call me and ask if I got it! Luckily it was still there when I left class
The proposal: November 25, 2011 at Rockefeller Center on the ice skating rink in New York City.
The big day: Cincinnati, OH on October 26, 2013.
